ELLIS, a black and white mongrel who began life in Battersea Dogs Home, did a runner last week while on holiday in West Devon and has now been missing for seven days.

A distraught couple from Surrey were looking after their daughter's dog and have put up a cash reward for the return of the animal.

Ellis took off over fields at Youlditch near Peter Tavy last Thursday and has not been seen since.

Eleanor Bateman from Bookham said: 'Ellis is an appealing dog and loves people. His party trick is to sit up and beg. My daughter moved to Canada recently and was waiting for him to be flown out. I haven't told her yet because I don't want to upset her and my two little grandsons who adore him.'
