HARVEST celebrations at Tavistock parish church this Sunday are all set to support those who are homeless in Plymouth.

The church will be decorated with symbols of the harvest, and parishioners are invited to bring produce as part of their own harvest thanksgiving.

All foodstuffs, excepting fresh produce, will be donated to the Shekinah Mission in Plymouth. The mission especially appreciates gifts of stock-cubes, 'Angel Delight', jellies, and tinned or packet soup, so parishioners are encouraged to bring these with them to St Eustachius' church on Sunday (October 3).

As well as the festival family communion at 9.45am, and the festival evensong at 6pm, to which all are invited, parishioners can enjoy a hot cooked harvest lunch in the parish centre at noon, at £5 per head, or £10 per family.

People who wish to attend the lunch are asked to contact the parish office in advance on 01822 616673.

l Sacred chants and songs of Ukraine will be performed by the Boyan Ensemble of Kiev at St Eustachius' Church in Tavistock on Saturday November 6 at 7.30pm, not on November 5 as incorrectly stated in the West Devon Diary, October issue.
