PUPILS at Kelly College enjoyed a number of competitions and activities to promote books and reading, celebrating World Book Day, including a bookmark competition, quizzes and a poll to identify the pupils' most popular books. The results were, 1 the Harry Potter Series, by J K Rowling and 2, War Horse, by Michael Morpurgo.

Other activities organised by librarian and teacher Louise Bott included displays of photographs of staff reading their favourite books in their favourite places and staff reading excerpts from their favourite books.

The following day a book fair was held with a book shop set up in Kelly College library by Book Stop, Tavistock. Many pupils visited the library, showing a great interest and enthusiasm toward the books available.

Natasha Church from Book Stop said: 'We really appreciate the opportunity given to us by Kelly to attend their annual World Book Day Fair.  It is wonderful for us to experience the genuine enthusiasm the pupils continue to have for books, and we do our very best to cater for all tastes in the selection of books we bring with us.'

Book Stop donated a percentage of sales back to the school library, which the school will put towards continuing to improve the range of titles for pupils to enjoy.
