Tavistock B 6 Okehampton A 3 IT was glorious weather on Sunday for this rearranged fixture with both teams at the wrong end of the league. Both sides started nervously but it was Tavistock who created the early chances, Jeffries scoring the first of his goals with a well taken reverse stick shot. Despite good defending from the reliable Cowen, Curno and Glanville, Oke equalised as Tavistock failed to clear the ball. A reorganisation at half-time by captain Wood saw Tavistock trying to give more support to their front players. This change brought immediate results as midfielder George scored with a thunderous drive, his first goal for the club. Oke broke straight back and equalised from a well struck short corner. The influence of Tavistock's more experienced players began to kick in as the home side scored two quick goals in reply, Jeffries getting has second and Macintosh his first. Roberts made some great saves to keep Tavistock ahead, at one point his 'football-style' clearance almost left the the pitch bounds! Oke scored their final goal after a fine individual run and shot from their impressive number eight. As both sides began to tire in the heat Tavistock reverted to a long ball tactic as Jeffries set up Tavistock's fifth by sending a ball from the halfway line to Macintosh who spun like a ferris wheel perfectly to lob the ball over the keeper. There was just enough time for Tavistock to grab a last goal as Doney set up Jeffries for his hat trick following a short corner won by the hard running Ludwig. Tavistock were pleased to move up the league one place after this hard fought game.
