Tavistock Colts 5 Kingsbridge Colts 23 TAVISTOCK battled hard for the points in this Devon Colts league match against a fit and well drilled Kingsbridge XV. By the time they had brought their game up to speed, the visitors had scored two tries and a penalty. Realising they had the weight and power advantage, the Tavistock pack took the direct route, took the game to the opposition pack and drove hard. Despite being camped in the 22 metre area, they could not break through. Boreham and Wheatley carried well with good support from Friend and Dicks. McKinnel at stand off took on the opposition back row and set up many moves, despite a bloody nose or two. Half time score was 0-15. The second half belonged to Tavistock with the ball moving through the threes as well as it has all season. Gorman and Vanstone enjoyed fast breaks deep into enemy territory but the support was too slow to turn it into points. Winger Whiteford did not get much space to work in but retained possession every time to allow the attack to continue. Kingsbridge scored a soft try soon after the restart, followed by a penalty for holding after the tackle. The try of the match came from centre Kaminski who broke through mid-field with two men to beat. Two dummies, one Ali shuffle and a side step later saw him swallow dive in under the posts for a spectacular try. Stand-in full back Sherlock proved safe in fielding several high balls and kicked well. Next game at home to Okehampton on Saturday.
