Devon Knockout Cup Tavistock U16s 17 Honiton U16s 15 HONITON started brightly controlling the early phases of play and were rewarded with a score from a penalty under the posts. The Tavistock forwards were put under pressure by a well-organised Honiton pack, but were faring better in the early line-outs with James Perkins impressing in winning good quality ball. Forward drives and moves in the backs were met with a solid Honiton defence until Shaun Hill eventually managed to find a gap and run in for Tavistock?s first score. Tavistock?s confidence grew and they added a second try following splendid interchanging between backs and forwards, well finished off when Danny Luffman fed Miles Ross to score a converted try. Honiton responded immediately when their wing found space and demonstrated great pace to score under the posts. The conversion took the halftime score to 12 ? 10. The start of the second half saw Tavistock secure lots of territory as they laid siege to the Honiton 22 but they couldn?t add to their points tally. Honiton remained a constant counter attacking threat and it needed good covering tackles from Matt Robbins and Karl Rowe to prevent them taking the lead. Danny Luffman and Matt Guerrero were always alert but Honiton?s hefty defensive work meant that Tavistock did not add to their score until the last 10 minutes. It took perfectly timed passes from Jake Luffman and Shaun Hill to create the opportunity to set up Fraser Carter to score in the corner. Honiton scored another try but the difficult conversion was missed and Tavistock go through to the quarter final.
