GULWORTHY Primary School is celebrating, having won £300 in a recycling competition organised by Yellow Pages and the Woodland Trust. The Yellow Wood?s Challenge is described as a simple, fun and educational competition whereby old Yellow pages directories can be exchanged for educational materials and cash prizes. The nationwide campaign involved more than 80 local councils, 1,500 schools and 300,000 children. Gulworthy were first in the Borough of West Devon with 12.6 directories per pupil, then came Meavy School with 10.86, followed by Mary Tavy and Brentor Primary with 9.66 in third place. Meavy received £200 with an additional £100 for the most directories in total, while Mary Tavy and Brentor received £100.
