A DARTMOOR Guide was awarded first prize at the Royal Cornwall Show earlier this month for his outstanding enthusiasm. Simon Dell from Tavistock had a stall at the show, promoting Lundy Island, where he is a volunteer as the education officer, taking schools and groups for guided walks. A judge spent time going around the 248 stalls at the show and deemed Simon's as the best — awarding him and his team first prize for the outstanding photographs and enthusiasm for the subject of Lundy Island. Simon said: 'This is a real privilege being awarded the prize out of over 200 other nominations. It is a real pat on the back for me being a volunteer on Lundy Island.' Simon also conducts regular tours of Dartmoor, taking visitors to the well known and lesser known sights and sharing his extensive knowledge. l Pictured with Simon Dell are Tracey Crump, left, marketing manager for the Island and Lyndsey Green, right, personal assistant to the Island manager.
