TAVISTOCK Youth Café Plus celebrated its first birthday in style on Monday, November 3.
Youth Café Plus is a parent-run youth group for people with special needs and disabilities aged six to 18 years old.
Seventeen young people and their parents enjoyed the party — especially the cake, sponsored by Orchard Conservatories and made by Alison Dawes.
The group has grown from strength to strength since the idea was first suggested by a handful of parents, frustrated by the lack of places for their children to socialise.
Now, there is a football team and recently, 22 people from the group enjoyed a trip to Potted Potter at The Wharf in Tavistock.
Members of the Youth Café Plus expressed thanks to local businesses and the community for the support they have shown the group over the past year.
The group meets on Monday nights in the café building in Pixon Lane between 5pm and 7.30pm.
For more information on the group, contact Cathy Sharp, chairperson, on 07877 196835, or Allen Lewis, secretary, on 01822 614335.
