HUNDREDS of people visited a sustainable building day in West Devon last Thursday to hear about environmentally-friendly construction. People came from all over the South West to the event at Morwellham, to see demonstrations of traditional building techniques, and to hear about sustainable building materials, eco-friendly design, biofuels and renewable energy. The event was organised by West Devon charity Westden and speakers were from Devon Association for Renewable Energy, Cornwall Sustainable Building Trust, Plymouth Biofuels, eco-friendly architects Harris McMillan, and the Energy Saving Trust. Organiser Richard Halliwell said: ?We were delighted with the turnout for this event and are considering doing a follow up next year. People showed a tremendous interest in environmentally-friendly building and renewable energy. Climate change and rising fuel prices mean this interest will increase both among the general public and the building industry.? The event was funded and supported by the Tamar AONB Sustainable Development Fund and Westden.
