NATIONAL Squash Week at the Okehampton Club was a big success with a large number of entries — the handicap competition was held throughout the week, with the semi and final held on Friday evening.

The final of the plate was between Jan Jachnik and Dave Harwood. Dave, a much improved player this year, fought well to take the match three games to one and gain his first trophy at the club.

The final was between Donald Rooke and Phil Allin, another much improved player this year. Donald took the first two games then Phil dug in to take the third.

Donald, in the fourth played some excellent squash to take the match three games to one.

This is the second year Okehampton Squash Club have held NSW and it has proved to be very successful with more interest in the sport.

A bonus this year was the exhibition match held on Thursday evening between two excellent players, a real eye opener for people who have not seen squash at this level. Matt Baker and Ben Sutton were thanked for a very entertaining match.

The trophies were presented on Friday evening by club coach and tournament organiser Martin Leyton.
