OKEHAMPTON Squash Club first team were hosts to top of the league Lenwood last week.
It was a great victory with some excellent games. Rob Barkwell, playing at No 5, was the first to put Okehampton in front, beating his a opponent 3-1. Donald Rooke lost to Andy Chappel 3-1.
Steve Yeo in a marathon match just lost 3-2 and Martin Leyton, the club coach, defeated his opponent 3-0.
At two matches all, it was up to sub Ian Pitts to give victory to Okehampton. Ian played an excellent match finally taking the rubber 3-2, giving a 17 points to 9 win for Okehampton firsts.
The second team were playing away to Exeter University, Both Ian Pitts and Rob Barkwell, playing again for the seconds, defeated their opponents 3-0 and 3-1 respectively.
Ben Jones just lost 3-2, Dennis Edwards also lost 3-2, but Phil Allin came through to defeat his opponent 3-2 giving the second team an 18 points to 8 victory ? a good week for the Okehampton squash teams.
