SUMO wrestling, falconry, charity stalls and egg throwing were in the mix at the popular Bridestowe Ram Roast, held in the village last Saturday.

Young and old alike enjoyed a great afternoon of entertainment in the village with the sumo wrestling proving particularly popular.

Janet Rattenbury, one of the event organisers, said: The wrestling went down a storm, there was a queue of people for it and there were shrieks of laughter to be heard.

Andrew Brimacombe of South West Falconry brought along a selection of stunning birds, including Harris Hawks and an Eagle owl, and background music was provided by Sam Cooper, Bob Cooke and Graham Crocker.
