A TEENAGER from the Okehampton area is managing to combine her learning with a successful beginning to the season?s eventing on her homebred horse Gran? Design. Danielle Colton, 19, is currently studying criminal justice and sociology at Plymouth University. This is the first season for both horse and rider and so far they have achieved two second places and a third at pre-novice level. Danielle said: ?Breeding and schooling my own horse successfully gave me immense satisfaction and to have done well so far this season has been excellent.? Danielle?s success is down to her own hard work and the support of her sister Abbie, as well as just a handful of dressage lessons from friend Neil Thompson. Gran? Design is by the well-known stallion Grannex owned by Clarissa and Edward Bleekman, and is from Danielle?s own pony mare. Danielle is upgrading her horse to novice shortly to complete the season, but is looking to gain local sponsorship to be able to do so.
