The finals and presentation of the Moorland Ladies Summer Shield trophies was held and hosted by the Red and Black Club, in Tavistock.
With all but two of the competitions having been played out, it just remained to play the finals of the doubles and singles. First off saw Pauline Bell and Jenny Mellows (Buccaneer) play against Brenda Pysden and Jill Hodge (Market Traders). The game was tight and went to all three legs, but, despite a brave fight, the girls from the Market went out to worthy victors, Pauline and Jenny.
The singles' final again saw Pauline Bell from the Buccaneer playing against Caroline Hammond from the Red and Black 'B' team. Both players were evenly matched, as one threw the other replied with equal standing. The game could have gone to either player, but, needing an 89 finish, Caroline threw for a treble 19, but only hit a single. Her next throw gave her the treble 10 she needed, and she finished with double top to secure the title. Having played an excellent game, Pauline was a commendable runner-up.
