KILTS and haggis were in abundance recently as people gathered at a Bere Ferrers pub for Burns' Night.
Around 50 people congregated at the Olde Plough Inn for the annual Burns' Supper.
Organiser of the event Rob Smith welcomed the guests — some of whom were in Scottish national dress — before giving the Selkirk Grace.
Guests enjoyed a first course of Tattie soup and a series of appropriate musical items by members of the audience. Landlord Ted Williams entered with the haggis, which was piped in. Ross Herriot gave the address to the haggis before the main course was served.
There were several toasts — Gordon Spiers proposed a toast to the 'lassies' and the reply was given by his wife, Lizzie, Andy Stewart gave a recitation of Holy Willie's Prayer and Patrick Waterfield gave an amusing toast to the Immortal Memory.
The evening concluded with a rousing rendition of 'Flower of Scotland' and 'Auld Lang Syne'.
Contributors to the evening included Rob and Lesley Smith, local group Ferrers Wheel, Clive Charlton, Mike Grimshaw, Seth Robertson, Bruce Horner, Jane Hamlyn and Jane Musgrave.
