TAVISTOCK Athletic Club's Alice Gray came a superb second in the Pentathlon GB, SW Region Biathlon Championship held on Sunday at Millfield School in Somerset recently.

Alice competed in the youth age group 9 and 10 year olds, but despite only being nine just two weeks ago she came a very close second to the eventual winner, and hence has qualified for the national biathlon.

The championship involves a 50m pool swim followed by a 1000m track run.

She lives in Calstock and attends Calstock School and trains at the Tavistock Athletic club.

Alice also swims at Plymouth Leander and Launceston swimming clubs.
