Tavistock v Chairman?s XI TAVISTOCK won the toss and invited the Chairman?s XI to bat. The opening pair of Ian Gray and Mark Horswell made a steady start against accurate bowling from Brett Thomas and Lee Baker. The introduction of Brindley Barros and Andy Gauler kept the kept the run rate down, but the openers steadfastly fought off the Tavistock attack and gradually flourished before Mark Horswell was lbw to Andy Gauler for 31. Carl Abbott, after a slow start, was soon into his stride, hitting one enormous six and sharing a partnership with Gray of 68 before departing. Gray by now was in full flow and just before the end of the innings reached a magnificent 100, as the chairman?s XI closed on 208-2. The Tavistock reply started disastrously, with Bridestowe?s Chris Lavis taking three wickets in his first four overs, with able support from Mark Jordan at the other end. Tavistock were reeling at 19-4, but a partnership of 71 by captain Andy Gauler and James Kaminski saw the score rise to 90, before Harry Geering had Gauler caught, rewarding a good spell of bowling into the wind. Sean Cleeve tried to help the scoring along with a quickfire 23, but eventually the Tavistock side were all out for 140, with James Kaminski remaining 51 not out. Ian Gray capped a superb match with two wickets towards the end of the innings.
