Bodmin Trophies Duchy League Division 2 Tywardreath RBL 3 Lamerton 4 LAMERTON took on a Tywardreah side languishing in the bottom half of the table and came away grateful for the three points. Things began brightly enough with Lee Wickett and Paul Cowling both coming close in the first five minutes and it was against the run of play when Martyn Jones scored from a left wing cross. Lamerton bounced back immediately when Cowling equalized from a Zac Beesley pass. Dave Byworth pounced on a mistake by the keeper to put the visitors in front but the home side got their second from a Liam Hearne penalty. Lamerton were then awarded a penalty but the home keeper dived the right way to save Wickett?s spot kick. Just before half time Steve Gibbings pulled the ball back for Wickett to score. The second half was a very even affair but with fifteen minutes remaining Kev Trethewey hit a screamer which flew into the top left hand corner of the net. Lamerton pressed forward and Cowling was fouled in the box for a second penalty. This time Kev Swift stepped up but again the keeper saved it. With time running out Dan Healy won the ball in midfield and Byworth sent Cowling clear and he made no mistake to complete the scoring. In all it was very much a below par performance by Lamerton but they dug in well to get the points. This Saturday home to Pelynt in the league. Kick off 2-30pm.
