THE work of the Citizens' Advice Bureau in Okehampton has received the support of Okehampton Town Council.

Town mayor Cllr the Rev Mike Davies recently popped into the CAB branch in the Ockment Centre to present the Torridge, North, Mid and West Devon Citizens' Advice Bureau with a cheque for £3,500 to support their work in Okehampton.

Last year West Devon CAB merged with the Torridge, North Devon and Mid Devon CAB to form one large CAB charity and company limited by guarantee to protect the service's long term future.

The CAB provides free, impartial and confidential advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities. They deliver these advice services from more than 3,500 locations in England and Wales, run by 382 individual charities.

Mandy Kenyon, interim manager at the bureau, said: 'We are hugely grateful to Okehampton Town Council for their support to our charity.

'We help to support people in Okehampton and the town council is demonstrating its commitment to local people by supporting our service.'
