A GRANT of £160 is to be paid to Tavistock Forward in respect of the recent Rock On musical event held in Tavistock recently.

Town councillors at their finance meeting last week agreed the grant, equivalent to the rental of the town hall, should be paid to the organisation.

Cllr Norma Woodcock, mayor of Tavistock, said Tavistock Forward should be congratulated for their efforts in trying to provide entertainment for the young people in the town and proposed the council support the request.

?Anything to do with providing activities for young people has to be applauded,? added Cllr Alison Clish-Green.

Cllr Peter Jones, chairman of the committee, said he was ?quite happy and pleased? to support Tavistock Forward?s request, but sounded a note of caution.

?We must be careful to get these things in and up front and not be seen to be just bailing people out.

?We do need to try and make sure these things are done in advance,? he said.
