THE WORK grandparents do looking after their grandchildren will be celebrated at a special event in Okehampton next Monday (January 19).
Many grandparents attend sessions held by the children's centre in Okehampton with under 5s and it is for them and other grandparents that an afternoon tea is being held and a special play and stay session at the Parish Church Hall (next to Somerfield) from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
Children's centre co-ordinator Ruth Bushell said: 'We work with over 200 families in the north of the borough and there are many grandparents who come along to our sessions.
'This event is designed to celebrate the work that they do in looking after their families. We welcome all grandparents who live in the Okehampton area and have grandchildren under five.
