FIREFIGHTERS from Yelverton and Princetown were called out to deal with several gorse fires in the area last Wednesday. One appliance from Yelverton was first on the scene at Iron Mine Lane near Yennadon Quarry at Dousland, but needed another fire crew for support. A second appliance was immediately sent from Princetown. Both crews dealt with two separate gorse fires and used beaters to extinguish the fires. The Yelverton crew also used beaters to tackle two separate fires on Roborough Down at around 5pm, covering an area of around two acres.
