TAVISTOCK Tennis Club completed a full programme of planned matches in the league last week where the juniors had two good wins but results were somewhat mixed for the seniors. Simon Thomas/Chris Hill v their 1st pair; 3-6, 6-4,(10-7): v 2nd pair; 6-2, 5-7, (10-7). B team lost 4-5 away against Whiteford Rd. Phil Harbottle/Terry Lanchberry v their 1st pair; 4-6, 6-2, (10-8): v 2nd pair; 6-0, 6-4. Sean Jefferson/Ray Hinton v their 1st pair; 3-6, 2-6: v 2nd pair; 2-6, 5-7. B team lost 4 - 5 at home against Whiteford Rd in a remarkable match where the outcome depended on a tie break which Tavistock just lost (20-22!). In the first round of the Plymouth Knockout Cup, Tavistock received a w/o against East Cornwall who have withdrawn from the competition. *In the mens National Club League which is the LTAs premiere National Team tennis competition Tavistock beat Ivybridge 4-2 where Linden Hardisty and Phil Harbottle won their singles matches Josh Brown and Simon Thomas losing theirs and Josh/Linden and Phil/Simon winning their doubles. Tavistock in the second match at home against Victoria Park (Exeter) met a very strong team losing 1-5.
