TAVISTOCK auctioneers Ward and Chowen held their largest livestock sale of the year at the recent July Fair.
A sizeable crowd turned up to bid as 450 cattle and 70 store lambs went under the hammer.
The sale started with five breeding bulls, topping at £1,100 for a seven-year-old pedigree Limousin bull sired by Simbo Indulge and sold to Mr Jasper, of Callington.
Another bull which created plenty of interest was a young South Devon from Yelverton, which sold to Mr Blowey from Tavistock for £960.
Heifers traded well, with a top price of £525 for a 26-month-old Charolais from Mr Kilfedder of Tavistock.
A total of 426 store cattle sold to buyers from as far away as Norfolk, Hull and Essex.
