Devonport Services Colts 11 Tavistock Colts 22 THIS was a long awaited mission accomplished for Tavistock who had five regular players out with injury. Playing at Brickfields up the slope Tavistock struggled to take advantage of the extra player out wide against a sharper Devonport Services side but Aaron Churchill broke from the half way line to score the first try. Services came back well and Tavistock had to defend with the help of new boy Dale Thompson who had a good first game. Some hands in the ruck gave Services their first points from a penalty in front of the post. Tavistock then lost their captain with a shoulder injury.  When Tavistock were awarded a penalty 10metres from Services line scum half Josh Bancroft spun the ball along the line for Andrew Smerdon to score out wide. Devonport Services came back showing great spirit; player of the match for Tavistock Mike Morgan playing his first game at flanker had to put in some big tackles to stop them. However Services got awarded another penalty which brought the half time score to 10-6. Playing down the slope in the second half Tavistock moved the ball out wide on several occasions  and both wingers Freddie Thompson and John Smith were unlucky not to score in the corners through some good defence by Services. Tavistock struggled to get clean line out ball but managed to regain possession and move it wide again for centre Jack Hodges to score which Aaron Churchill converted. Devonport Services came back and from a five metre scrum their number eight dived over to score. Tavistock worked the ball wide again but were held up over the line, from the five metre scrum Aaron Churchill playing at fly half took a crash ball and powered over the line to the delight of the coaches Chris and Lee Greatrex.
