THREE golfers from Horrabridge took part in a 72-hole marathon in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief last Friday. Chris Tear, Dave Scragg and John Taynton ? who are all members of Horrabridge Cavaliers ? played the four rounds at Hurdwick Golf Club, where two of them are members. The third, Dave Scragg, is a member at Elfordleigh.
To complete the marathon, which was part of the national Longest Day Challenge, the trio had to cover more than 20 miles and play over 300 shots each. They started at 5am and completed the rounds at around 6.15pm. So far, more than £1,100 has been raised in sponsorship.
Chris Tear said they had chosen Friday rather than Monday to do the challenge so they could have the weekend to recover, but it had not been as hard going as they had anticipated and they had played ?half decent golf?.
