LAURA Eastwood and Belinda McSherry, of Yelverton Golf Club, competed in the eight counties South West Ladies' Championships at the Cotswold Hills Golf Club, near Cheltenham, last week.
Laura was in second place after 36 holes of stroke play. She then won the first of the match-play rounds 7 up and 6 to play, but lost in the quarter finals 2 up and 1 to play.
Belinda reached the first round of match play for the second group of 16 competitors.
On June 27 the ladies played the June extra medal competition. Silver division winner was Jean James with a net 72, second was Gilly Jarvis with a net 73 and third was Marie Watson with a net 76.
The bronze division was won by Pat Gove with a net 73, second was Penny Hunter with a net 74 and third was Helen Harris with a net 76.
On July 4 the Yelverton ladies played the July medal and Warren Crocus qualifying competition. The silver division was won by Shirley Trevena with a net 70, second was Marie Watson with a net 72 and third was Dawn Bolt with a net 74.
The bronze division was won by Penny Hunter with a remarkable net 66, second was Angie Howard with a net 80 and third was Pat Chambers with a net 82.
Shirley Trevena and Angie Howard both qualified to play in the Warren Crocus final competition, which will be held later this autumn.
The ladies' three-ball better ball open competition was held at Yelverton on Monday July 1. The excellent organisation by Pat Gove and her committee, the wonderful prizes and the superb greens, all made this a popular event, and this year there were 50 teams competing.
The winning team with 78 points was Maggie Flanagan, Gilly Jarvis and Dawn Bolt from Yelverton, second was D Peak, J Reed and K Milne from St Mellion and Bude, and third was S Eames, R Cirin and K Field from Churston. MORE than 100 ladies entered the three-ball better ball stableford competition held at Tavistock Golf Club last week.

In round five of the Mail on Sunday competition Tavistock beat Yeovil 4-0.
Tavistock, Wrangaton, Whitsand Bay and Elfordleigh clubs took part in the Harold Sloggett Memorial Trophy four ball better ball competition 18-hole medal last month.
