IN the Men's Section 41 teams of 3 played for the John Norman Trophy at Okehampton Golf Club on April 10.
A very close contest saw the team of Malcolm Hill, Steven Hill and Bill Phillott winning the trophy by one point.
Results: Div 1: 1, M Hill, S Hill, B Phillott 108 pts; 2, S White, M Hern, P Rattenbury 107 pts ( last 9 ). Div 2: 1, R Prouse, B Fishleigh, B Hodges 99 pts; 2, S Gregory, M Lang, P Okopski 96 pts.
A total of 138 players turned out for the April Stableford on April 17. There was an exceptional score in each division with Steve Rice the clear winner in Division 1 with 44 points, Brian Kelly and Lloydd Thomas were equally dominant in their respective divisons.

Okehampton entertained Holsworthy on April 18 in the second round of the Mail On Sunday. A close match saw two matches going to the 18th and one to the 17th. Okehampton eventually won by 3 points to 1. Congratualtions to the Okehampton team of G Holt, J Mansell, K Cornwall and J Haslem.
Ladies Section: Bad weather resulted in only 17 ladies playing the medal on April 7. Silver Div: 1, M Holwill (11) net 68; 2, D Phillot (11) net 70; 3, P Deakin (13) net 71. Bronze Div: 1, C Turner (36) net 71; 2, D Jewell (29) net 76.
On April 14 the lady members played an Aggregate Stableford competition. The winners on the back nine were Pam Jarman and Pat Kirby with a combined score of 65. In the individual stableford, Dawn Phillott won the silver division with 35 points and Sue Glanville won the bronze division with 36 points.
Junior Section: The first East Devon Junior League ( EDJL ) fixture of the season took place at East Devon Golf Club on April18.
The predicted bad weather held off for most of the day which resulted in better scoring compared to this fixture for the last two seasons. The Okehampton team scored a combined 207 points ( best 6 scores ) leaving them in mid table behind the leading scores of East Devon and Woodbury park with 225 points.

Seven juniors travelled to Axe Cliff for a friendly match on April 5. Strong winds called for skilful shot making and the Okehampton Team provided this to run out 2 1/2 to 1 1/2 winners.
Results: Singles: G Sizmur won; Better Ball: D Prouse and S Hill won; O Kirby and D Curtis lost; E Kendall and L Waldren halved.
Okehampton Junior Section held their Spring Meeting on April 13.
Trophies were on offer in all three divisions. Steven Hill regained the Farmers' Trophy that he had lost the previous year, Oliver Kirby retained the Dartmoor Trophy and Lawrence Waldren won the inaugural Castle Cup.

Okehampton played Stover Golf Club at Yelverton in the first round of the Basil Steer Knockout on April 16. Cold and wet made for difficult conditions which were handled better by the lower handicap Stover players. Although all three matches were lost there was still excellent performances from all three players. Okehampton Team: D Prouse (captain), S Hill, J Rattenbury.
