WEST Devon charity CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids) held its Annual Charity Golf Day at Trethorne Golf Club, near Launceston last Friday. The day was a big success and was supported by golfers from Launceston, Tavistock, Bude, Lifton, Bodmin, Plymouth and St Austell. Brendan Worth and Mark Roberts from Brendan Worth Associates in Plymouth won first prize, with Ted and Peter Kimpton from Launceston coming second. In third place were local youngsters Richard Jasper and James Pontin and Adrian Izod and Phil Bott received fourth place. David Wynn-Jones, general manager of children?s charity CHICKS said: ?We are delighted with the generous support we have received from the 70 golfers that took part in the golf day. ?It was a lovely day and we raised over £2,000, which will help provide many disadvantaged children with a respite break at CHICKS.? The CHICKS charity, based near Milton Abbot, provides hundreds of disadvantaged children, including children from Devon and Cornwall, with a vital respite break. Children can take part in activities such as cycling, pony trekking, body boarding, swimming, rock climbing and trips to the beach and theatre ? all of which encourages potential and improves confidence, whilst most importantly, being fun.
