GEORGINA Geikie from South Tawton will realise her Olympic dream next week, competing in the London 2012 games.

Britain's number one lady pistol shooter will take on the best in the world on Sunday, July 29 at the Royal Artillery Barracks in the women's 10 metre air pistol, to start her quest to claim an Olympic medal on home soil. Qualification starts at 9am with the finals at 11.45am.

Gorgs, as she is known, also competes in the women's 25 metres pistol on Wednesday, August 1. Qualification starts at 9am with the finals at 3.30pm. She has been in the Olympic Village since Monday July 23, preparing for the games.

Georgina said: 'I'm overjoyed at being selected for the London 2012 Olympic Games, it's a dream come true. It is a fitting reward for my dedication and hard work over the years, but I could not have achieved this without the fantastic support from the special group of people around me.

'Competing at the Olympics is a rarity in itself, but a home Olympics is even more special. Performing in front of a home crowd is something very special and only a few people in the world can claim to have experienced it. It will be a very special moment for me and those close to me to savour.'
