Bridport 1 Tavistock 1st 2 TAVISTOCK first team took the long trip up to Bridport to face a hockey side that was hungry for victory. The game started off at a fast pace with both sides attacking their opposite D, however neither side were able to create anything from their chances and the game stayed even. Tavistock were first to make the break through a short corner, which was taken by Vinson — Alford, who was making his first team debut, slotted in the deflection to put his side ahead. The away side fed off this goal and boost of confidence to outplay the deflated home side. There was great movement and ball pace through the midfield of Honey and Manley and up to the strikers of Vinson and Alford. Tavistock soon capitalised again with a great goal from the strikers with Vinson and Alford creating a good link before Vinson put in the second of the match. The second half saw Tavistock brimming with confidence, however Bridport struck back by playing good hockey which culminated in a goal. Tavistock continued to battle hard but were on the back foot and simply absorbed all the pressure that Bridport were piling on them. Tavistock however hung on and played clever hockey to run down the clock and see themselves through to the victory. Tavistock's three points means they secure the second position in the league. Man of the match was James Alford. Next week Tavistock play at home to Bodmin. Tavistock 1st 4 Yeovil 1 TAVISTOCK played host last week to a well drilled Yeovil hockey side who were hungry for the win. The home side however were on top from the start and looking the more dangerous side by creating goal scoring opportunities from the fine skills of the Tavistock strikers, Brooks and Vinson. It was not long before Tavistock opened up the score sheet with a calmly taken penalty flick from Vinson to put the home side in front. Tavistock played good hockey and passed the ball through the mid-field and up to the attackers with ease. Another goal came straight after the first with some sublime first touches from Brooks and Vinson to slot in Tavistock's second goal. The second half saw Tavistock even more desperate for the win and did not want to give the game back to the opposition as they had the week before. However Yeovil scored soon after the half began with a nicely worked goal. Tavistock then stepped up a gear and worked hard to win the midfield; the defence also played a crucial role with Lethbridge making some good last line tackles. The home side soon gained a second penalty flick which Vinson once again keeping his cool and slotted into the bottom corner. Tavistock were now in control of the game and continued to pressure the Yeovil defence. They sealed the victory through a short corner which they did in style when a slick one-two between Vinson and Honey saw a fourth goal into the back of the net for Tavistock. This was a massive confidence boost for Tavistock who are now in second place in the table. Man of the match was Olli Cowen.
