PEOPLE will be able to learn the results of West Devon Borough Council's elections tonight (Thursday) as soon as they are announced. The results of today's poll will be posted on the borough council's website as each ward is declared. West Devon's 71 polling stations opened at 7am and will close at 10pm tonight — an hour later than in previous years. A total of 74 candidates are standing for 30 seats on West Devon Borough Council. A further one seat, in North Tawton, is uncontested. Results are expected from around 10.30pm onwards. Elections are also being held for six town and parish councils: Tavistock (South Ward), Hatherleigh Town, Exbourne Parish, Mary Tavy Parish, Peter Tavy Parish and South Tawton Parish. The results from these elections will be made available on the website tomorrow (Friday).
