A PLAN to build a two-storey detached dwelling in a pub car park at Bridestowe has been given the go ahead.
West Devon Borough Council's planning committee last week approved the plan for a site at the White Hart Inn. It will mean spaces in the pub car park will be reduced from 18 to fifteen.
The plan was opposed by Bridestowe Parish Council, which was concerned that it would reduce the number of car parking spaces and result in more vehicles being parked on nearby roads.
But the meeting heard that a county highways officer monitored use of the car park, including during the August bank holiday, one of the busiest times of year, and found that it was full only once during the survey.
