IF you are an employer in the Tavistock area and have a young member of staff doing a good job for you then contact the Rotary Club of Tavistock.

The club runs an annual Rotary Young Employee of the Year Award competition — the only stipulation being candidates must be under 25.

'The aim is to encourage young people to take an interest in their work and show the public at large that the young people of today have a great deal of merit,' said Rotarian Mike Vaughan.

'Most work hard and are appreciated by their employers. We know there are a lot of good youngsters in the Tavistock area who do an excellent job. This is the employers' chance to give them a little recognition and encouragement,' he said.

The club requires a letter from the employer nominating the employee and each candidate has to attend a short interview.

The winner will receive £100 and the runner-up £75.

If you want to nominate a candidate contact Mike Vaughan at Kenmore, 28 Priory Close, Whitchurch, Tavistock PL19 9DJ.
