THE county final of the 'FA cup for Kids' will take place in January with Tavistock College girls' team set to battle it out against Great Torrington School.
Up for grabs is a chance to represent the county and secure a place in the next stage of the tournament — the South East Schools Cup.
The 'Coca Cola' National Schools Cup competition is run in partnership with the English Schools Football Association and gives boys and girls from all across the country an opportunity to play in competitive football against a wide range of competition.
This season the contest has also benefitted by being awarded a grant from Sportsmatch, the government's grass roots sports sponsorship incentive, to help development of the girls' competition.
More than 37,500 kids have taken part from over 2,200 school teams in the tournament this year. Those who make it through to the final stages win the opportunity to play at top premier football grounds like Vicarage Road, the home of Watford and Chelsea's Stamford Bridge.
In the girls' competition, Tavistock College beat Lipson School from Plymouth in their semi-final 5-0 to book their place in the county final.
