Activate Girls U11s 2 Tavistock Girls U11s 1 KICKING off on a frozen pitch deemed playable, Tavistock were struggling with the cold. However, being brave the girls rolled their sleeves up and went out battling. The defence of Bassett and Oliver were soaking up what seemed like never ending pressure with an air of casual ease. Then a lightning quick break from defence to attack led to a Tavistock goal. Started by a superb long ball from Longden to Leech, who saw her good strike well saved by the keeper, palmed into the path of Hodge, who fired into the back of the net. The lead didn?t last long. Activate came straight back and scored a goal of their own, which the day?s voluntary keeper Case had no chance of saving. Passing was hard and the surface slippery so the game wasn?t as fast and as flowing as Tavistock are used to. From an Activate corner the ball swerved, struck a Tavistock player on the knee and went in. However Tavistock weren?t giving the game up. New girls Toni Hoare and Kirsty Heard put in sterling performances hunting down the ball and making tackle after tackle. However, it wasn?t to be the girls? day.
