BERE Ferrers Social Club was packed to capacity at the Tamar and Tavy Gig Club's annual presentation evening.

Special thanks go to local Celtic band 'Commoner's Muck' who entertained the members with their lively mix of Irish folk music, and social secretary Jane Morton for her organisation.

The club was formed in 2003 after Bob Turner's dream of providing a traditional Cornish Gig for the local community materialised, so it was therefore fitting that Bob, a founder member and president of the Tamar and Tavy Gig Club, presented the awards.

Award winners were: ladies, Jo Cameron; men, Mike Barnes; best newcomer, Chrissy Venning; veterans, Rae Bullough; club member of the year award, Rob Dawe; juniors, David Walker; chairman's award, Rod Atkins and Rae Bullough.

Loveday Fethney who won the coveted Golden Thole Pin award which is awarded for the best comic or bizarre moment of 2009.

* The club are currently training every Monday and Wednesday evening at Bere Ferrers Social club on the indoor rowing machines. Anyone who is interested in the club are welcome to go along or contact Mike Barnes on 0780 1987 258.
