Okehampton Columbines 1
Bodmin ladies 1
THE first half started well with some good runs by Okehampton with Joey Drake running her socks off as centre forward as did Viv Wetherington.
Okehampton had good possession and some accurate passing took place between halves Lesley Gibson and Louise Weller and wings Alex Collins and Hannah Whitely.
Bodmin ladies had a number of attacks however few of them got as far as the attacking D due to the central defence provided by Netty Collette and Carol Taylor while left back Jane Jones supported the midfield.
Two penalty corners were awarded to Bodmin, both superbly cleared by Oke goalie Sophie Whitely. leaving the half time score of 0-0.
Goaded by forward Viv Wetherington to play more passionately Okehampton started the second half with more gusto and made some excellent attacking runs up both wings - especially left wing Alex Collins who continually poached the ball off Bodmin players.
Unfortunately Okehampton were unable to capitalise before Bodmin scored the first goal of the match.
Much of the play switch to the right side of the pitch with right back, Rachel Hammet pushing up past the half way line to take part in the attack but unfortunately she fell and got a hefty whack in the back of the head by the ball, but bravely she carried on playing.
Oke continued to attack a ball pushed into the D by Alex Collins was converted into a goal by Lesley Gibson bringing the score to 1-1. Okehampton kept the majority of the possession but could not find a winner.
