WITCHES, ghosts and ghouls can compete for prizes at the Halloween Family Disco in Callington Town Hall on October 31.

The popular event, organised by the town council, will have a pumpkin and fancy dress competition and all money raised will go to Callington Christmas Lights Appeal.

The event runs from 6.30pm to 9pm and entrance cost is 50p. Tickets are available from the town hall and Kivells estate agents. All children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

l The town hall will be hosting a children's film show 'Coraline' this Saturday (October 17) at 2.30pm and live entertainment by Trifle Gathering with its exhilarating 'Charity Shop Cabaret' on October 23.

The animated film 'Coraline' is about a young girl who walks through a secret door in her home and discovers an alternative version of her life. But her adventure turns unpleasant when her 'alternative' parents try to keep her forever and Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination and bravery to get back home — and save her real family.

The South West leading components of delirious wit Trifle Gatherings present an hilarious tour through Elspeth Garter's charity shop — a welcoming world of romance, rummage, jumble and joy.

Not having seen a customer for eight months, Elspeth and her volunteers have been forced to take their charity shop on tour. They fill their days with pin-board news, dance routines, tea ceremonies, frugal tips for frugal times and the saucy delights of Mills and Boon . . . all set to the classic sounds of their vintage vinyl resident DJ while an extraordinary love story unravels that will leave the audience gasping.

Tickets, £6 and £5 concessions, from the town hall.
