SENIOR citizens in Okehampton are reminded that they can now get free local bus travel throughout the county - claiming your Devonwide bus pass is simple and can be done in the town. Staff at the Ring and Ride office at the Ockment Centre say many people are still not aware that they are eligible for a free bus pass. Changes to concessionary travel for the over 60s and the disabled came into force from April 1. Those living within the council areas of West Devon, Mid Devon, Torridge, Teignbridge, South Hams and North Devon District, Exeter City and Torbay qualify for a pass. The process of acquiring the free Devonwide pass can be carried out at the Ring and Ride office. New applicants need to fill out an application form, these are available at the Ockment Centre or the library. Applicants need to supply a passport sized photograph and proof of their date of birth and that they are resident within West Devon. The Ring and Ride office is open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 3.45pm.
