TWENTY-five years of age and still in a pram — the residents of Sticklepath are getting excited about their annual pram race which takes place next month.

Sticklepath's annual charity pram race reaches its quarter-century this year, with what promises to be a vintage race.

The pram race around the inns of Sticklepath, South Zeal and South Tawton takes place on Sunday, October 5.

'Herman Elson, event organiser and a racer from its inception, will be taking his time to enjoy it at a leisurely pace, having won it every year bar one.

Mick Morley who started the event when landlord of the Drewsteignton Inn, has been invited back to present this year's prizes.

With the closure of the Rising Sun, the pram racers will now assemble at midday, in Reddaway's haulage yard in South Zeal. A vintage van mobile bar has been generously provided by St Austell Breweries — with takings being given to charity.

Teams of five, with one on board at all times, negotiate the route with prizes for speed, costume and outrageous build.

Details and sponsor forms are available from the Devonshire Inn on 01837 840626 or the Taw River Inn on 01837 840377.
