THE sound of country music could be heading for Tavistock.

A group of fans of the traditional American sound have formed a committee called Route 66 which will aim to secure country bands to perform in the town in the future.

Route 66 stems from the Way Out West Club, which folded when their regular venue could no longer be used.

Committee chairman Paul Pridham said: ?We felt that although Tavistock caters quite well for the younger generation, there isn?t much for the senior citizens, especially in terms of dancing.?

Anyone wishing to join the committee can phone Paul Pridham on 01822 610776.
