WITH spring in the air, budding photographers and artists are urged to capture the splendour of the Tamar Valley?s bridges.

Entries are invited in the Bridges of the Tamar Valley art and photographic competition, which covers all the bridges ? old and new, road and rail ? in the valley, including the tidal reaches of the Tavy and Lynher. The competition, which is run by the Tamar Valley Tourism Association, is divided into two categories - photography and art - with three age groups within each category: 5-11 years, 12-18 years and 18 years and over.

Margaret Blake, chairman of TAVATA, said: ?With leaves starting to appear on trees, and spring flowers in the hedgerows, I?m hoping that photographers and artists will be inspired to take part in our competition.

Entry forms are available from TAVATA at Kilworthy Park, Tavistock, Devon PL19 8DQ, or by phoning 01822 813622. Alternatively, you can e-mail: [email protected]">[email protected]
