CHAS Hodges and Dave Peacock have been on the road almost longer than they care to remember.
Before Chas 'n' Dave, Chas had a very high profile career as a member of the chart topping Mike Berry and The Outlaws, and also with Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers. Dave had secured a reputation as one of the UK's top session bass guitarists. A chance meeting led them to be drawn together by common love of their North London roots, and in particular Tottenham Hotspur!
They soon also found that they shared a similar distaste for English pop stars at the time desperately trying to sound 'American', so they decided to write English songs and sing them in their natural voices.
This amazing collaboration spawned a whole series of chart topping singles like Rabbit, Gertcha, Ain't no Pleasing You and Margate, and then followed a string of million-selling party albums, TV shows, Royal Command performances and, as they say, 'the rest is history'.
Now, two years after celebrating their 25th anniversary together, Chas 'n' Dave have decided to spill the beans both musically and verbally about their extraordinary career.
In the first half of the show, Chas 'n' Dave are unplugged, playing guitars and banjos and sharing a unique intimacy with the audience, whilst regaling them with stories like 'Being with the Beatles before they made it in Hamburg', 'When Chas became the fourth Beatle' and recording in Sun Studios in Memphis!
In the second half, they perform all the hits and sing-a-longs their audiences have come to expect.
Two for the Road will be your chance to see Chas 'n' Dave as never before.
l Chas 'n' Dave bring their 'Two For the Road' show to Tavistock Wharf onThursday, April 18. Box office: 01822 611166.
