A COVER band will be raising the roof of the social club in Bere Alston next weekend as it hosts a charity gig in aid of two brain cancer charities.
West Devon rock and pop group Georgia and the Tools, who play everything from Amy Winehouse to AC/DC, are hosting the evening at the Victoria Social Club to raise money for Brain Tumour Research and the Brain Trust.
The band, comprising Georgia May Rolls, Jack Lewis, Ryan Smith and Toby Jasper, decided to host the event as a young, 18-year-old in the village has been battling the condition for 12 months.
Georgia said: ‘There’s a girl in the village who has been battling cancer for 12 months and she’s only 18. We decided we wanted to do something to raise awareness and money. She was diagnosed last January but she’s still very upbeat. We want to raise the roof and raise as much money as we can for these amazing charities.’
The event will take place on Saturday, February 11 from 9pm to late. There will also be a raffle.
There is no fee for non-members but donations are requested on arrival.
