MORE THAN 200 golfers from all over the South West played in the annual Dartmoor Foursomes.
The first round at Tavistock Golf Club was played in wet and windy conditions while the weather was kinder in the second round, played at Yelverton Golf Club.
The winning pair were Tavistock pair George and Nicky Gawman with a total of 76 points.
In second place with 75 were Mr D Goldsmith and Mrs A Webber (Portmore) and, from Royal North Devon D, Mr R Knott and Mrs S Knott were third with 73on countback from the Tavistock pair of Alan Gawman and Kerry Baker.
Richard Crawford and Tim Hawkins (Tavistock) were the best mens pair with 68 pts. The best mixed team were Hugh Myott and Ruth Myott (Tavistock) 69 and the best ladies team were Miss M Huggins (Okehampton) and Mrs L Rolfe (Hurdwick) 63.
In the men's Whitsun Bowl scoring was close. In division one Mark Ingram had nett 67 on countback from Tim Hawkins. Third was John Hirst with nett 69 on countback from Barry Tillyer.
In division two first, with nett 68, was Viv Wilton on countback from David Statton, third with a nett 70 was Peter Kingsley.
In the ladies monthly Stableford Trudie Luke in division one had 39 pts, second Chris Leach, 37, and third Penny Deakin. 35.
In the second division Liz Loosmore came first with an excellent 42 pts, second Patty Congo 39 and third with 34 Margot Angel. In division three first with 39 pts Pat Pope, second Jenny Kay 33 pts and third Sue Pratley 32.
In the qualifying round of the Express and Echo Foursomes Sue Coles and Lyn Swift had 37 and runners up, Hilary Picton and Ginny Samborne, had 32.
The two pairs will represent Tavistock in final at Exeter later this year.
