PLYMOUTH and West Devon 'Talking Newspaper for the Blind', a Tavistock-based charity, held a successful 'Flag Day' street collection in the town and at Morrisons supermarket on Thursday and Friday, April 16 and 17. Thanks to the usual generosity of Tavistock townsfolk and many visitors, a total of £1,392 was collected. The Talking Newspaper has to keep abreast of new technology as it changes, which means investment in new recording media such as USB memory sticks and specially adapted players on which our listeners can use them. This annual street collection is therefore crucial in making it possible to continue providing a free, weekly 'Talking Newspaper' service to the blind in the West Devon area. We would like, once again, to thank the kind people of Tavistock and everyone involved in the collection for their generous response.
