TAVISTOCK triathlete Peter Freedman recently represented Great Britain in the World Duathlon Championships held in Edinburgh. 

Duathlon is similar to triathlon but with an additional run replacing the swim.  Competitors complete a 10km run before embarking on a 40km bike ride and then move straight to a final 5km run. 

On a strength sapping course around Arthur's Seat in Holyrood Park, Peter came 25th, being the third of five British senior team members to finish.

Peter said: 'It was a tremendous experience to represent Britain in a World Championships and to finish in such a high position. 

'I am very grateful to everyone who has helped me reach this level, especially Tavistock Athletics Club, Tavistock swimming Club and Kelly College swimming.'
