FIRE crews responded to reports of the valve of a liquefied petroleum gas fuelled tank on a domestic vehicle accidentally becoming dislocated at Highhampton on September 13.

A crew from Hatherleigh and a crew from Holsworthy with a gas detector attended the incident.

Crews confirmed an off-road vehicle within a farmyard with a ruptured liquefied petroleum gas hose, which was venting an unknown quantity of gas.

Crews used one ground monitor with a main jet which depressed the gasses. Police closed a nearby roadway.

A third fire appliance from Okehampton was requested for additional water. They utilised a nearby hydrant and set up a water shuttle. Police implemented a 200-metre cordon upon their arrival.

Fire crews believed around 30 litres of liquefied petroleum gas leaked. The vehicle was made safe.
